Learning Objectives:

  • To discuss the challenges of road accidents in India. And critically discuss the eighth leading cause of death in the world.
  • To comprehend the contribution of the logistics industry in the global supply chain and in India’s GDP and employment.
  •  To discuss strategies to increase road safety and reduce death due to road accidents.
  • Highlight the concept of educating and training of lorry/ truck drivers and all transport staff in the surface transport sector.
  • To highlight the challenges of implementing new traffic rules in India.
  • Challenges and limitations in training ground level staff, investment in road safety programs, workers' knowledge about the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019
  • The case can be instrumental in creating a system (voluntary) socially responsible business, requiring corporate houses to include more community development as part of planning, product portfolio, and to motivate Indian citizen to more safe driver habits and following traffic rules.
