SATTVA eTECH is an electronics company involved in design and development of embedded new products. The senior manager of the company is working on the planning and execution of a defense project. Further, the manager is also evaluating the various alternative strategies to tackle uncertainties in the project network.
The case is intended for use in an introductory course on Operations Management or Project Management. The teaching objective is to discuss basic concepts in planning a project which includes (1) Understanding precedence relationships; (2) Drawing the project network diagrams; (3) Explaining analytical approach on computation of probability that a particular path is the critical path; (4) Calculation of the expected project completion time; and (5) Evaluating alternative strategies to manage the project.
